Enercon patent writ "not legitimate" says Vestas

Vestas says that three independent German patent experts have taken a good, hard look at a claim by Enercon that Vestas has breached Enercon's patent on lightening protection of wind turbine blades. Detailed examination of Enercon's writ has not changed Vestas' view that the claim is "not legitimate," says the company. The writ was taken out against Vestas Wind Systems A/S in Denmark, its German subsidiary, the directors of the two companies and a number of Vestas German customers, apparently after negotiations between the companies broke down (Windpower Monthly, September 2005). "The case will now continue through the German legal system and a ruling is not expected within this year," says Vestas.
