Minister pledges more support to wind

Federal environment minister Angela Merkel has pledged to put more effort into promoting the German wind industry at home and abroad. While visiting the Windtest station at Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog in February she also promised backing for the Electricity Feed Law, which enshrines the Renewable Energy Feed In Tariff. Merkel participated in a discussion about the future of wind with representatives from the regional utility Schleswag and several wind station operators. Merkel's visit was part of a tour on which Merkel was accompanied by Dietrich Austermann, member of the federal parliament for Itzehoe.
