Two new wind turbine models from Kenetech Windpower, dubbed the 39M-VS, will be installed near Green Bay, Michigan, as part of a project that has received a $25,000 grant from the American Public Power Association. The Kenetech machines are designed especially for low wind speeds. The project is just now getting under way, says Earl Davis of the Electric Power Research Institute, one of the collaborators in the project. Other collaborators are Wisconsin Public Service Co, Wisconsin Electric, Madison Gas & Electric, and Wisconsin Power & Light.
