Opposition to National Wind Power's proposed 44 turbine wind farm in West Yorkshire is increasing. A majority of callers to a local newspaper telephone poll voted against the 22 MW development at Flaight Hill in Calderdale. Nearly 4500 people dialled the Halifax Evening Courier's hotline in early January, with 2760 opposed to the project and 1710 in support of it. The result reveals an about-turn in attitudes in Calderdale. A telephone poll by the Courier last July received a response of more than two to one in favour of more wind farms. A recent rally against the wind farm attracted around 200 protesters. The four mile walk to the Flaight Hill site was organised by John Manning -- member of the Flaight Hill Windfarm Opposition Group and Evening Courier reporter.
