Four new reports on utility demand side management (DSM) are being released by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, based in Washington DC. The reports are: " Key Factors Responsible for Changes in Electric Utility DSM Usage;" "DSM Under Attack: Are Utilities Overreacting to the Threat of Retail Wheeling?" "Utility DSM: What Have We Learned, Where Are We Going?" and "DSM Programmes in an Era of Tight Budgets: Maximising Long-Term Energy Savings While Minimising Utility Costs." They include surveys of utility staff and regulators, a review of DSM experience over the last 20 years and recommendations for the future given today's utility restructuring, and how utilities can get "most bang for the buck" from DSM.
