Suzlon moves up wind size scale

Suzlon Energy of Rajkot in Gujarat is moving up the size scale with its wind turbine installations. The company, together with its German partner, Südwind Energiesysteme, is preparing to introduce the Südwind 600 kW and 750 kW turbines to the Indian market. Negotiations between the two companies "have led to first results and should be completed by mid 1998," says Martin Kühl of Südwind. So far the licence agreement has covered Südwind's 350 kW machines, which the company ships to Suzlon as component sets. Suzlon assembles them in a workshop that was completed last year and now employs 100 people.
