Nordic Windpower is aiming to commercialise the NWP 400, a prototype of which is now operating next to a Danish Bonus 450 wind turbine at Lyse on the west coast of Sweden. The machine still has some technical difficulties, but these will soon be solved, says project leader Staffan Engström. The company is constructing a scaled up version of the NWP, rated at 1 MW, to be built on Näsudden next year. The company also wants to build a group of ten NWP 400 turbines as a first step towards industrialised production of a medium sized turbine.
