The first Mitsubishi turbine to be installed in Germany, a prototype MWT 450 kW, went in the ground at Süderdeich near Heide in Schleswig-Holstein in December. The nacelle, blades and electronics of the machine were delivered from Nagasaki in Japan while the tower and transformer station were German built. The installation was carried out by Danish company DMP Mølleservice. The turbine is now being monitored in preparation for type certification. "If all goes well, further MWT 450 kW machines will be purchased for wind stations," says Uwe Carstensen, managing director of the owner operator company, Winkra-Energie.
