French energy producer Théolia brought its first wind power plant online last month at Fonds de Fresnes in the Somme département of northern France. The 10 MW installation is powered by five Repower turbines. Next in line for the company is a 9 MW plant at Séglien in Morbihan, Brittany, where six Repower 1.5 MW units are due to start turning in March. Through its acquisition last year of local developer Ventura (Windpower Monthly, July 2005), Théolia also has a further 50 MW under construction or awaiting financing in the Somme, Calvados and Aveyron departments. In addition, Théolia recently signed a letter of intent to buy 28.5 MW in Germany (page 34).
