Re-developing 69 turbines

New World Power Corp and Nevada Energy Co have formed a joint venture that has bought a 9.3 MW wind plant in San Gorgonio, says Al Austin of New World. San Jacinto Power Co will own and re-develop 69 turbines previously owned by Smith Wind Energy Corp and Triad Limited Partnership. The wind farm operates under a 19 MW power purchase agreement with Southern California Edison. Nevada Energy Co, a geothermal company in Reno, announced in January 1993 a letter of intent with Smith and Triad for the $18 million project. In other New World news, the company's west coast representative Dwight Kuhns says, "No comment" regarding rumours that New World is buying SeaWest Power System's Altamont Pass wind farm, which has an installed capacity of 20 MW.
