Numerous small and mid-sized Italian companies in late February requested contributions from government towards construction of small scale renewables plants, including wind projects, causing the environment ministry to almost immediately exhaust the EUR 25 million it had set aside for the project. Those quick off the mark who met the conditions for winning a grant will receive a contribution of 30% of admissible costs for small wind power generators of between 20 kW and 100 kW connected to the electricity network, as well as for small-scale solar thermal and biomass. The contribution for photovoltaic plants varies between 50% to 60% of eligible costs.
