Police on Humberside will be going green when Britain's first wind powered police station is built. A 300 kW Carter wind turbine will be installed to meet electricity needs at the new divisional police headquarters in Hull. Work on the new building begins in 1996 and is expected to be completed in 1998. Humberside Police say the turbine will produce 400,000 kWh of electricity annually and reduce energy costs by £37,000 each year.
