The wind industry's rip-roaring year continues. The first three quarters of 2005 saw over 4500 MW come online, 1400 MW more than in the same period in any previous year. With the industry's busy season now starting -- traditionally more than 60% of global wind additions occur in the last quarter -- the sector is on track to add at least 10,000 MW in 2005. The previous record from 2003 was 8000 MW. Spain is the stellar performer so far in 2005, adding about 950 MW, followed by Germany, moving at the same pace as last year. India is doing a bit better than the US, which is ahead of the UK's 380 MW. Italy is in the plus-300 MW bracket, while Portugal just misses it. Countries with additions of more than 100 MW are Portugal, Australia, Canada and France.
