Environment

Evidence of global warming is now real and detectable. Antarctic glaciers are breaking up, the ice volume of glaciers in the Austrian and Swiss Alps has halved this century, and there are major changes in vegetation, says the WWF; flooding and other weather-related disasters are increasing, and the insurance industry is howling for action; the ten hottest years on record have been recorded in the past 20 years; the south of England is drier than for over 200 years. The culprit is primarily the burning of oil, coal and gas for energy, says the IPCC.
