The first four 1 MW turbines built by Husumer-Schiffswerft were inaugurated at a site close to the German-Danish border on January 19. The wind station, operated by Sued-West-Windpark Bosbüll, is expected to yield some 8.4 million kWh a year, sufficient electricity to supply around 3150 households. The 1 MW turbine was a development of the HSW 750 kW prototype which has been in trial operation for two years. The 1 MW HSW 1000 has a hub height of 55 metres and rotor diameter of 54 metres. The company stresses that it is well suited for inland sites. Type certification was granted at the beginning of 1996.
