Nebraska's wind potential to be studied

Nebraska Public Power is to study the wind at a site near Ainsworth in conjunction with Pacific Battelle Northwest Laboratory. In addition, Todd Elsbernd, a candidate for the Omaha Public Power District Board, says he will advocate a study of Nebraska's wind potential if elected. Elsbernd was attending a meeting sponsored by Kenetech Corp, which has done testing in the area, and the Nebraska Coalition for the Environment. The Nebraska Power Association (NPA) announced earlier that it is planning install at least eight wind monitors in the state. NPA will put up $200,000 for the studies, with another $100,000 to be contributed by the state energy office.
