With its sights set on the market for offshore wind plant, Wind World is to develop a 2.5 MW turbine for which it has been granted DKK 6.5 million in combined state and EU support. The project's entire budget is DKK 28 million. Director Jannik Falkenberg declines to divulge any details of the design concept which Wind World has in mind. "And it could well be that we end up with something completely different to what we are thinking about now," he adds. Wind World is the only Danish company marketing variable speed wind turbines today, a concept which despite the need for power electronics is winning favour over more traditional fixed speed technology for its grid compatibility advantages. The EU support to the project comes from a fund to stimulate regional development of small businesses.
