Wirbelwind signs one more supplier

The latest wind turbine manufacturer to secure an agreement to sell to Wirbelwind, a new turbine purchasers' consortium, is DeWind Technik. DeWind joins Tacke Windenergie and Südwind Energie in Wirbelwind's portfolio and will supply more than 100 of its turbines of both 600 kW and 1.25 MW in size. Wirbelwind was set up in March this year by eleven wind operating companies and a number of private operators in the inland state of North Rhine Westphalia (Windpower Monthly, May 1999). Wirbelwind members have potential sites for more than 110 turbines in the eastern region of the state. The delivery of DeWind turbines will begin in 2000, says the company's Hugo Schippmann. Tacke Windenergie will deliver most of Wirbelwind's needs this year, says Wirbelwind.
