Airtricity picks supplier for 72 MW in Scotland

Vestas has been contracted to supply 36 turbines for Airtricity's Braes of Doune wind farm in Stirlingshire. The 72 MW order covers delivery, installation and commissioning the turbines and a five year service and maintenance contract. Shipment of the turbines begins in spring 2006 and the wind farm is expected to be completed by October. "Vestas is the only turbine supplier with production facilities in the UK," comments Vestas' Tom Pedersen. "Airtricity has consistently shown commitment to create and maintain jobs locally in Scotland during production, installation and also during the turbines' operational lifetime of 20 years."
