According to Nestlé, the output from the Sanquhar project will provide half of its power needs in the UK and Ireland, where it has 13 factories.

Community Windpower was unable to confirm the capacity of the Sanquhar project or the choice of turbine, even though it is scheduled for commissioning early next year. The company has used 3MW Siemens and Vestas turbines in the past.

Nestlé has signed up to a global initiative called RE100, which aims to encourage large businesses to source 100% of their electricity from renewable sources.
