The Vila Para project is expected online in 2016. Voltalia was handed the license to develop the project in a government A-5 auction in 2013.

Acciona will supply 33 AW125 3MW turbines, installed on the company's 120-metre concrete tower.

The Spanish firm said it will manufacture the turbines at its factory in Bahia, north-east Brazil. The towers will also be made in the country, mostly from its Areia Branca plant, near the project site.

It will be the fourth time Acciona has supplied turbines to Voltalia projects.

According to the manufacturer, it also supplied turbines to the 90MW Areia Branca, the 108MW Sao Miguel do Gostoso — both online — and the 93MW Vila Amazonas project, still under construction.
