Suzlon said it was taking up the challenge set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to install 2GW of wind projects in Gujarat.
The move is part of a national campaign aiming to make India a "global manufacturing hub".
In October 2014, the company's chairman Tulsi Tanti said the company planned to install 2GW of wind projects in the neighbouring state of Madhya Pradesh by 2020.
Last month, the group also joined a government study into developing an up to 300MW offshore wind project in the Arabian Sea, off Gujarat.
