EDF EN has a global wind portfolio of more than 6GW with a substantial presence across Europe and the Americas. Most of its business to date has been onshore, but under Cahuzac's direction it has become the big pusher behind France's nascent offshore sector, winning the bulk of the first round of tenders, although progress has been slow in this direction as France concentrates on building up its manufacturing supply chain before setting about the process of installing turbines in the water. The company has not been afraid to experiment, playing a significant role in the development of the Vertiwind direct-drive vertical-axis floating turbine project.
