Assembly of the first batch of 54 turbines is set to begin in December, according to the company. These will be installed in the north east German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, the first turbine scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2015.

Details on the USA investment fund that set up Clean Ayr Energy were not revealed. The turbines will be built at a factory in Wismar, northern Germany.

Clean Ayr provided no details about the Wisnar factory. However, Indian-owned Kenersys also has a turbine factory in Wismar, which began production in 2009, and was officially inaugurated on 12 November 2010.

W2E Wind to Energy installed its own first 3MW turbine with 120 metre blade diameter for testing at Windpark Kankel near Rostock in September 2013, followed by a second in August 2014.

Its new "Harvester" blade technology with 130 meter rotor diameter for the 3MW turbine type upgraded to 3.3MW, as well as the 116 metre diameter version for its 2MW turbine will be available from 2015, the company added.
