The Danish manufacturer will install 18 of its V112-3.3 MW turbines on the Yeong Yang II project.

The turbines are expected to be delivered in 2015, with the project due to be commissioned by the end of that year. Vestas said that it will also provide operations and maintenance services over a ten-year period.

Vestas installed its first turbine in South Korea in 1998 and has since installed 104 turbines in the country with a capacity of 166MW.

In 2009, Yeongyan commissioned the 61.5MW Yeong Yang I wind farm which was fitted with Acciona 1.5MW turbines.

South Korea has a cumulative wind power capacity of 492MW according to the country's wind association. Only 9MW were added in 2013, at the Sinan 2 onshore project.
