Filipino state-run Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has ordered 21 V90 3.0MW turbines for the second phase of its project in Burgos, Ilocos Norte province.

The deal also includes delivery, installation and commissioning plus a ten-year service contract.

The Danish supplier said the wind turbines will be delivered in the second quarter of this year.

In June last year, Vestas announced it was supplying 29 of the V90 turbines to the 87MW first phase of the Burgos project. The two phases of the project are due to come online in 2014.

The Philippines's wind capacity remained static during 2013. It was the fourth successive year in which all the country's wind energy has been provided by the 33MW Bangui Bay project, which went online in 2010.

However, there are seven wind projects being developed. These will have a total capacity of 420MW, planned to go online between August and December 2014, according to the Philippines' Department of Energy.
