The fund manager also announced that it has completed the acquisition of the 51MW Kuolavaara-Keulakkopää wind project, also in the north of the country, from Finnish companies Fortum and Metsähallitus.

Both projects will feature Nordex's N117/3000 turbines.

The wind farms have been bought through the Impax New Energy Fund II, which has invested EUR 330 million in the renewable energy sector. More than 65% of this is invested in onshore wind projects with a total capacity of 250MW.

Fortum is a Finnish energy company, while Metsähallitus is a state-owned forest management enterprise.

Finland lags behind its Scandinavian neighbours for installed wind capacity, with only 448MW spinning. The country is expected to add another 170-200MW this year, up slightly on last year's 160MW.
