The second year of Windpower Monthly's Turbine of the Year awards saw turbine manfacturers Nordex, Vestas, Siemens, Enercon and Gamesa receive awards for their turbines, blades and drivetrains from the Windpower Monthly editorial team.

Any wind turbine, blade or drivetrain available for commercial order within the year is elegible for consideration in the awards. The categories are: Turbines up to 2MW, Turbines 2.1-3.5MW, Turbines 3.6+MW, Drivetrain, Rotor Blade, and Innovation.

Each product is assessed for: overall product design quality; clever use of technology innovation; product-market impact and relevance; fitness for purpose; relability record; grid connectivity; and installation and upkeep.

The first Windpower Monthly supply chain awards will be revealed this summer, with the 2014 Windpower Monthly Turbine of the Year awards being announced in January 2015.
