Enercon inaugurates French tower factory

FRANCE: Enercon inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in France, a concrete tower factory in Picardy, France.

The 18,000 square metre factory named WEC Mâts Béton is located in the municipality of Longueil-Sainte-Maire (Oise) near the city of Compiègne, the site chosen for its logistical advantages of good connections to the motorway, railway, primary A-roads and waterways, Enercon said.

The plant has the capacity to build up to 100 towers per year for wind projects in France, the company stated. Enercon claims it is the first major wind turbine manufacturing facility to be built in the country.

Sixty new jobs have been created raising the number of Enercon employees working in France to 450. Enercon reported it has 950 turbines with a total 1800MW in operation in France, accounting for around 25% of total French wind energy capacity.

Twenty five Enercon service stations with 100 service teams serve the French market and more will be added as Enercon grow its fleet in France "based on France's initiated energy change and long term stable framework conditions," the company stated.
