The delivery is the first instalment of a EUR2billion deal between Repower and RWE to deliver 250 wind turbines for offshore projects planned in Germany, Britain and the Netherlands.
Pre-series versions of REpower's 6MW turbine were installed at Thornton Bank earlier this year. Although other 6MW turbines have reached the prototype stage, the 6M is the only one to be installed offshore.
REpower will produce the 54 turbines at Bremerhaven, from where they can be shipped directly to the Innogy Nordsee 1 site in the German North Sea, about 40km north of the island of Juist.
Construction of Innogy Nordsee 1 is due to begin during spring 2014.

GERMANY: RWE Innogy has confirmed its 2010 deal to use Repower's 6M 6.15MW offshore wind turbine for its 332MW Nordsee 1 project.
