Verbund to acquire 86MW of German projects from Juwi

GERMANY: Austrian energy company Verbund is to acquire more than a two thirds share in five German onshore wind projects totalling 86MW from developer Juwi.

The projects are located in the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz and will be brought online successively from the end of this year to mid-2013.

They comprise a total of 21 turbines, five of which are Enercon E-126 7.5MW, currently the largest turbine type in the world.

The remaining machines are 13 Enercon 3MW and three Repower 3.2MW, said a Verbund spokesman.

Juwi, which retains the remaining share in the projects, said the projects will deliver around 255 million kWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity needs of around 70,000 households.
