AUSTRALIA: Siemens has received an order for 90 turbines with a combined capacity of 270MW for a project in South Australia.

The Snowtown II Wind Farm, which will be located approximately 140 km north of Adelaide, is being developed by New Zealand utility TrustPower.

The scope of Siemens' supply deal encompasses delivery, installation and commissioning of 90 gearless SWT-3.0 wind turbines, plus maintenance under a long-term service agreement.

Installation of the turbines is scheduled to begin in 2013, with commissioning of the wind farm planned for 2014.
