According to the agreement, signed on 1 June 1 in Beijing, BCEG will serve as the general contractor for the project. The EPC (engineer, procure, construct) contract is worth $3.9 billion. According Xing Yan, manager of BCEG International, it is the wrold's largest EPC project deal.
The project, based in Patagonia, comprises the 1.35GW wind farm and 300km long high-voltage transmission lines. It will be constructed in nine stages in four years and nine months.
BCEG said the project will officially go into implementation at the end of the year.
Xing said that BCEG would develop the Argentina project with China-made 2.5MW full–power variable frequency direct-drive wind turbines, without citing the name of the turbine manufacturer
