Nordex wins 30MW N90 order in China

CHINA: Nordex has received a 30MW order from Zhongmin Wind Power for a project near the east coast.

The order is for 12 N90/2500 turbines, and is the first for this model in China. The turbines will go to a project near Zhongcu and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Zhongmin is a subsidiary of the Fuijian Investment Group.

Nordex faced a difficult 2011 in China, with an 80% drop in Nordex's turbine sales in the country. It led the German firm's overall Asian sales for 2011 to drop by 57%.

Announcing provisional data on its final year results for 2011, Nordex today confirmed that its sales for 2011 totalled €921 million, down 5% from 2010.

While Nordex blamed the fall mainly on project postponements in Southern Europe, it acknowledged the collapse of its Chinese sales as another key factor.
