G&G handed 108MW offshore foundations contract

GERMANY: EWE and Enova have awarded Belgian engineering firm G&G International the contract to construct the foundations for the 108MW Riffgat offshore wind farm.

The deal, which marks its debut as an offshore wind supplier, is the biggest order G&G has ever received.

The order is for 30 monopile steel foundation structures to be delivered between May and July 2012 and is worth €55 million.

The 108MW Riffgat wind farm, located next to the Borkum wind farm on the Dutch-German border in 18-23 metres of water, is costing €400 million overall.

G&G has made its name as a designer and manufacturer of pressure vessels for the oil, gas, chemical and petrochemical industries.
