BP and Sempra complete 250MW Colorado project

UNITED STATES: BP and Sempra Generation have announced the completion of the 250MW Cedar Creek II wind farm in Colorado.

The project, which is located in Weld County, consists of 63 GE 1.6MW and 60 Nordex N90/2500 turbines. The project has a 25-year power-purchase agreement with Xcel Energy.

Nordex’s 150MW half of the development is its largest project to date.

According to April’s Windpower Monthly Windicator, Colorado’s wind capacity stands at 1.3GW.

Speaking about the project, BP Wind Energy CEO John Graham said: "The Cedar Creek II wind farm has created 19 permanent jobs, will generate over $1 million annually in taxes and economic benefit to the rural community of Weld County and brings affordable renewable power to over 75,000 residents of Colorado."
