Vestas will supply six V90 2MW turbines to Lagoa Funda wind farm, in Vila do Bispo in Portugal's Algarve region. This is the first repowering project in Portugal.
Previously, the wind farm had capacity of 9MW, distributed over 18 Mitsubishi turbines. The project has been operational since 1998, and is one of the oldest in Iberwind's portfolio.
Iberwind, which is controlled by private equity firm Magnum Capital, has also signed service agreements with Vestas for the Candeeiros I, Candeeiros II and Pampilhosa wind projects.
The deal covers 225MW spread across 75 V90 3MW turbines.
