EDPR installs 1.1GW in 2010

PORTUGAL: EDP Renováveis (EDPR) successfully installed 1.1GW in 2010, according to a statement to Portugal's market regulator CMVM.

The company added 501MW in Europe, 600 MW in the US. As of December 2010, EDPR had 88% of its portfolio under long-term contracts and only 12% exposed to the US spot electricity markets.

The load factors remained stable at 29%, one of the highest in the wind sector.

EDPR has 649MW under construction (480 MW in Europe, 99MW in the US and 70MW in Brazil). For 2011, EDPR expects to install 800-900MW, mostly in Europe.

Late last year EDPR recorded a net profit fall of 68% for the first nine months of 2010. It said this was partly due to costs relating to newly commissioned capacity.
