The wind farm will eventually consist of 51 Siemens SWT-3.6-107 turbines. When fully operational the Walney 1 and 2 wind farms will have a capacity of 367.2MW.

All the turbines have now been installed at Walney 1 and will be commissioned over the coming months.

Walney 2, with 51 Siemens SWT-3.6-120 turbines, will begin installation in March and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year.

The project is owned by Dong Energy, Scottish & Southern Energy and a consortium of PGGM and Dutch Ampère Equity Fund.

Macquarie Capital won the bid to operate transmission links to the farms in August.
