New output record for Ontario

CANADA: Wind energy hit a new all-time high for hourly electricity output in Ontario this week, producing 1056 MW of power around 9pm on October 26.

Over the course of the entire day, wind turbines were responsible for supplying more than 5% of the province's total electricity needs.

Ontario is Canada's biggest power market with demand that is expected to peak this winter at about 23,782MW.

It currently has 1298MW of installed wind capacity, about one-third of Canada's total, and about 3% of the total installed generating capacity in Ontario.
