Wind Wire: Chinese firm ramps up US presence

UNITED STATES

Sinovel, China's leading turbine maker, recently announced plans to begin installing its first US turbine by year's end. The 1.5MW machine will be used to power a pump station in Charlestown, Massachusetts. According to research firm Emerging Energy Research, Sinovel is also marketing its 3MW platform in California and Massachusetts and wants to ramp up a US presence in an effort to find new markets as it reaches 7.5GW of 2010 turbine production capacity in China.
