Harrow project adds 40MW in Ontario

CANADA: International Power Canada's 40MW Harrow wind project in Ontario's Essex County came online in June, bringing the country's installed capacity to 3.47GW.

The C$110 million project, which has four 10MW power purchase agreements signed under the province's former renewable energy standard offer programme, is made up of 24 Vestas 1.65MW turbines.

The standard offer programme was designed to bring small-scale distribution-connected projects into Ontario's supply and has since been replaced by a feed-in tariff (FIT) programme with no size restrictions.

International Power won just under 76MW worth of wind contracts in the FIT's first round and has another 423MW awaiting new transmission build.
