Wind Wire: Tunisia - Carbon-credits deal secured for 34MW

The World Bank has signed an agreement with state utility the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company to buy carbon credits generated by a 34MW wind power plant at Sidi Daoud, on the north coast. The Bank-managed Spanish Carbon Fund will buy credits representing around 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions a year as part of a project by the bank to help register the facility under the UN's carbon offset scheme, the Clean Development Mechanism.
